Wolves have completed the loan signing of Jonny from Athletico Madrid. The 24-year-old left-back joins from Atletico Madrid, despite only joining the Spanish side from Celta Vigo earlier today for a fee believed to be £5 million.
Wolves Loan Jonny
Wolves have added another fresh face to their ranks in the form of Spanish left-back Jonny Castro Otto. You can see why he’s attracted some interest from teams having amassed 183 appearances for his hometown club Celta Vigo. He has also represented Spain at every age group up to the U21’s. With Jonny being reliable at the back, it’s easy to see why he was ever present in the Celta Vigo squad last season.
Jonny Looking to Compete
With the emergence of youngster Cameron John during pre-season and Ruben Vinagre, there’s a bit of competition for Jonny in the left-back position. They all have different playing styles which gives Wolves plenty of variation. John and Jonny are more defensive whereas Vinagre is an attacking left-back.
Wolves are looking to create competition in all areas of the pitch having already gained promotion with one of the best sides to ever compete in England’s second division. They are still looking to build having made a number of high calibre signings, still not believed to be finished in their summer dealings. Competition at Wolves will be something to watch this season.
One In One Out
Since the arrival of Jonny, last season regular Barry Douglas is on offer to new clubs. He’s deemed surplus to requirements. Wolves are worried about his ability to defend in the Premier League and therefore are looking to go in a new direction. He is currently in advanced talks with Leeds United about being their first permanent signing of the transfer window. The fee is believed to be around £5 million.
