Henry Agrees to be Villa Boss

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has verbally agreed to become Aston Villa boss. Steve Bruce is still in charge, but new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are yet to be convinced that he is the man to lead the club to the Premier League. They have a meeting arranged with Bruce this week. The former Sunderland and Wigan manager believes he can get the club promoted; however, it appears that the new owners have a legend in their sights to take over.

Henry recently helped Belgium to third place at this summer’s World Cup. He was assistant to Roberto Martinez but now wants to be the main man. He also recently quit his £2 million-a-year job with Sky. It is understood that Arsenal’s record scorer is willing to begin his management career in the Championship.

The French legend will need assurances over transfers but with one-half of the new owner’s being worth a reported £5 billion this should not be a problem. Financial fair play rules could play a part though. After much uncertainty of late, Villa fans could be about to experience some exciting times moving forward.

WBA Want £40 Million for Duo

Burnley targets Jay Rodriguez and Craig Dawson have had a £40 million price tag given to them by West Bromwich Albion. Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants the duo to strengthen his squad and the pair wish to leave; however, the Baggies will not let them go cheaply.

Burnley had a £15 million bid for Rodriguez rejected last week. They also bid £25 million for the pair. Again this was rejected. West Ham United have also had a £12 million bid for Dawson rejected. West Brom value Rodriguez and Dawson at £20 million each and appear to be sticking to that figure.

Forest and Swans Want Liverpool Midfielder

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to trim his squad by letting several players leave. One of those is midfielder Pedro Chiravella, who is believed to be a £5 million target for Nottingham Forest and Swansea City. The Spanish midfielder is not in the German’s plans at Anfield and is free to leave.

Chiravella signed for Liverpool in 2013 but has made just one appearance. He has recently spent time on loan in Holland. In  anuary 2017 he joined Go Ahead Eagles until the end of the season. For the 2017/18 season, he played at Willem II.

Bolton to Sign Rep. Ireland International?

Republic of Ireland international Marc Wilson is a target for Bolton Wanderers. The defender is a free agent having left Sunderland earlier this summer. The 30-year-old former Stoke and Bournemouth defender signed for the Black Cats last summer on a free transfer; however after relegation, he was released. He currently has 25 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Rovers Sign Huddersfield Defender

Bristol Rovers have completed the signing of Tareiq Holmes-Dennis from Huddersfield Town. The 22-year-old defender has signed for an undisclosed fee. Holmes-Dennis played 15 times for the Terriers during their successful promotion campaign in 2016/17. He has also had spells playing for Charlton, Oxford, Plymouth and Oldham. Rovers have yet to confirm the length of the defender’s contract.

Sunderland Face Competition For Striker

League One promotion favourites Sunderland are set to face competition in their bid to sign Charlie Wyke. The striker has been chased by Sunderland boss Jack Ross for some time now. However, no agreement has been reached between the Black Cats and Bradford City as yet. Wyke is also understood to have suffered an injury which could keep him out of the opening games.

Bolton Wanderers are now reportedly monitoring the situation between Sunderland and Bradford. Boss Phill Parkinson is waiting in the wings to bid for the striker should negotiations fail between the Black Cats and City. Bradford value the forward at £1 million.
