The Latest On Lemar, Bale, Gundogan and Fred

Thomas Lemar: Another Missed Target For Liverpool?

Liverpool are yet to get their replacement for Phillipe Coutinho. The Nabil Fekir saga has finally hit a brick wall. Thomas Lemar was another target for the Anfield club. Last season, Lemar was isolated on the wing. That is not a position Liverpool are looking at and therefore halted their pursuit of the Monaco star. Lemar was happy to move to England but has now put pen to paper on a reported £52 million deal with Atletico Madrid.

With Lemar and Fekir deals no longer available, Liverpool will need to look elsewhere to replace Coutinho.

Bales’ Representatives Yet to Meet With Madrid Officials

Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for some time. With Zinedine Zidane leaving his post as manager after Bale’s sensational UCL winning performance, the Welshman’s future has been shrouded in doubt. Tottenham have a ‘first refusal’ option to buy the player back as long as they outbid other suitors. With wages and a huge transfer fee, a move back to Spurs is not viable. Manchester United remain interested. Bale’s agent has yet to meet with Madrid’s representatives over any proposed move, telling Sky Sports:

“I think we have to have a chat with Real Madrid and see where we’re going,” said Jonathan Barnett.

“He wants a better year than he had last year. He wants to play more, and that’s paramount to him. I think he’s one of the top three or four players on earth. For somebody like him, he has to play. It’s not about money.”

Ilkay Gundogan – A New Iniesta?

Another midfielder touted for a move to Spain along with Lemar is Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Barcelona see Gundogan as a possible replacement for the now departed Andres Iniesta. Gundogan wants to win more silverware with Pep Guardiola’s side and would only consider a move should City no longer require his services.

Fred is Finally The Red!

Fred has been signed by Manchester United. A work permit has taken time to come through for the player. Due to this, the club have been unable to announce Fred as their own player until now. Since the £50 million deal with Shakhtar Donetsk was agreed, it was said that an announcement was imminent.
