FTN: Jorginho, Jack Wilshere, Nick Pope and Ander Herrera Updates

Manchester City Close in on Jorginho

Man City are reportedly close to securing the signature of the highly rated Napoli midfielder Jorginho. The Italian international is rumoured to be set to join the English side later this week. However, Napoli President De Laurentiis stated that no final agreement has been reached between the sides.

Man City have Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic and Nice midfielder Jean-Michel Serri as reported back-ups should the Jorginho deal fall through. All three targets are creative central midfielders who fit the Pep Guardiola passing style of play.

Jack Wilshere Showdown Talks

English midfielder Jack Wilshere is to hold talks with new Arsenal manager Unai Emery regarding his future at the club. Wilshere’s current contract expires this month and there is a big possibility that he may leave the club. Crystal Palace are the early front-runners for the potential free agent’s signature.

He and current Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, reportedly have a good relationship following their time working together for the English national side. Unfortunately for Wilshere, he has no World Cup to showcase his abilities, as he was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s side who will compete in Russia.

Liverpool Want to Capture Pope

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has emerged as a reported target for Liverpool. The Merseyside club lost the Champions League Final last month. This was following a horrendous performance from their current number one, Loris Karius.

Pope is currently preparing for the World Cup, having been selected in the English squad for the upcoming tournament. This is off the back of a historic seventh-place finish with Burnley.

Ander Herrera Rejects Bilbao

Ander Herrera has rejected an offer to sign for his former Spanish club, Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder only played a peripheral role for the Reds last season.

The signing of Brazillian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk will likely limit his game time further next season. It is likely that United will try to cash in on the player who has been with the side since 2014.
