TSG 1899 Hoffenheim forward Mark Uth will join Schalke on a free transfer for the 2018-19 season, the club have announced. Uth’s contract expires at Hoffenheim at the end of the current season. He has agreed to a four-year deal at the Veltins Arena which runs until June 2022.

The 26-year-old striker has scored 28 goals for Hoffenheim since joining from Dutch side Heerenveen in 2015, this includes an impressive nine goals in 16 top-flight matches this season.

“I’m certain that moving to Schalke is the correct next step in my career,” said Uth upon the announcement of his transfer to Gelsenkirchen next season. “I’m looking forward to the new challenge from the summer, but until then it goes without saying that I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got to help Hoffenheim achieve their aims this season.”

“Mark Uth is currently the best German goal scorer in the Bundesliga and will really improve our attacking options from the summer,” said Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel. “We’re really pleased to be able to bring him to Schalke.”

The announcement means two star players have left Hoffenheim with coach Julian Nagelsmann, having already bid farewell to Sandro Wagner this winter, the striker joining Bayern Munich.
