Spencer’s Best Bets for Baseball: July 16th

The Best Bets series has become the worst bet series in the blink of an eye. I hope this is just a post-All-Star game funk, and things will start returning, running through the plays from yesterday. In the Boston Red Sox game, James Paxton started his outing strong. We were breezing through the first two innings, not allowing a single baserunner. Then, the third inning happened. Paxton had a complete meltdown, allowing six runs to score, including a Cody Bellinger grand slam. In our second play, the once high-powered offense of the Cincinnati Reds completely fell flat. They were held to zero runs on the back of perfect pitching from the Milwaukee Brewers.

On to Today’s Best Bets!

Yankees @ Rockies

The struggling New York Yankees take on the struggling Colorado Rockies for the finale of this so far uneventful three-game series. Gerrit Cole gets the start today for the Bronx Bombers and has been lights-out up to this point in the season. I see no reason why that trend does not continue today. Especially against a Rockies offense that has struggled mightily to find any sort of consistency. The story for the Yankees offense has been essentially the same. They have lost the swagger they carried only a season ago and now find themselves in 4th place in the AL East.

The Pick: Yankees @ Rockies F5 Under 6.5 Runs (-120) 1U

Fun Pick: PPD Gerrit Cole 6+ Strikeouts / Yankees to Win (-115) .5U

Rays @ Royals

They are returning to the well in our second play of the day. This pick is slowly becoming a system play that must be hit when available. Brady Singer and the Kansas City Royals host the league-leading Tampa Bay Rays. I foresee a bloody Sunday for Mr. Singer, who enters this game with a nearly 6.00 ERA. The Rays will take full advantage of this, firing early and often.

The Pick: Brady Singer Under 3.5 strikeouts (+132) 0.5U

Tampa Bay Rays Team Total Over 5.5 Runs (-111) 0.5U

Fun Pick(s): Randy Arozarena 1+ RBI (+120) 0.25U

Wander Franco 1+ Stolen Base (+275) 0.25U
