Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann has been placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a right hamstring strain in a 4-2 loss to the Miami Marlins on Saturday. The Braves called up catching prospect Alex Jackson to take McCann’s spot on the 25-man roster.

Braves Lose Brian McCann to Hamstring Strain
The Injury
The injury occurred when McCann was running the bases on a bunt attempt in the fourth inning against the Marlins. McCann grabbed his right hamstring immediately after sliding into third base, before walking off the field very slowly. He was then taken into the Braves clubhouse for further examination.
“When I was running to second, when I slid, it was a little tight. And then on the bunt, it just kind of grabbed on me,” McCann said. “When I was going down to slide, I kind of felt it grab, so I knew that I was probably coming out of the game.

The Catching Situation
As well as losing McCann for an undetermined length of time, the Braves could possibly be without catcher Tyler Flowers for a few days. Flowers was hit by a pitch on his right hand in the very next inning against the Marlins. X-Rays on Flowers’ hand were negative, and it was announced he is day-to-day.
After losing both catchers, the Braves will attempt to get through the next few games with rookie catcher Alex Jackson. Jackson was the No. 6 overall pick by Seattle in the 2014 draft. Furthermore, utility player Charlie Culberson will be the only other option at catcher for Atlanta, so the Braves will hope Jackson can stay healthy and produce in the next few days.
