Goldberg Returns on Monday Night Raw, Confronts Bobby Lashley

Goldberg Monday Night Raw

To say that “The All Mighty” WWE Champion had a busy night on Monday Night Raw would be an understatement. Bobby Lashley‘s open challenge was answered by none other than Keith Lee, who was absent from WWE programming since February. Despite “The Limitless One” being at the top of his game, Lashley was able to put away the former NXT double titleholder with a spear. Lashley was unable to enjoy his victory for long, however, as he was interrupted by yet another returning wrestler: Goldberg.

Through the trademark pyro and smoke, Goldberg made his entrance to a strong ovation from the crowd at the American Airlines Arena. The former 2x Universal Champion stepped into the ring, confronting Lashley. In only so many words – two, to be exact, “I’m next” – Goldberg challenged Lashley for the WWE Championship. Lashley seemed ready to fight, though MVP intervened, keeping “The All Mighty” separate from the WWE Hall of Famer. Backstage, WWE broadcaster Kevin Patrick approached Lashley and MVP to inquire further about Goldberg’s challenge. MVP said they wouldn’t even dignify it with a response before he ushered the WWE Champion forward.

Leading to Money in the Bank this past Sunday, it was rumored that Goldberg would be returning to the company, the common idea being to challenge Lashley for the title. Goldberg’s last match took place at the Royal Rumble event this past January, where he unsuccessfully challenged then-titleholder Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.
