Report: Anthony Henry Signs With WWE

Anthony Henry

According to PWInsider, Anthony Henry has signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The report states that Henry will be heading to Florida to become one of the latest trainees of the Performance Center as he prepares to debut on the NXT brand.

Henry originally announced that 2020 would be his final year with plans to retire at the end of the year. The 18-year veteran revealed on June 25 that wrestling was not what he once loved and that it was “not my identity.” Clearly, that notion by the 36-year-old has changed in the past number of months.

Henry is well-known for his work in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in the late 2000s into the early 2010s. He also became a mainstay in the World Wrestling Network’s group of promotions, including Gabe Sapolsky’s EVOLVE promotion that was purchased by WWE in 2020. He is a former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion with JD Drake.

Many fans who were familiar with the EVOLVE promotion wondered if Anthony Henry was going to join WWE or remain retired when the purchase of EVOLVE was made, as a number of talents including Curt Stallion, Josh Briggs, Leon Ruff, and Joe Gacy were brought into the fold.

It seems as though the contract with the company will be a new spark for his career and WWE fans should expect to see him very soon.
