Alex Colon Wins the GCW Tournament of Survival 5

Alex Colon GCW Tournament of Survival 5

Following a grueling effort, Alex Colon came out victorious in the GCW Tournament of Survival 5. This proved to be both a victory and a tribute for Colon, who came out to “What a Waster,” the old entrance music of Danny Havoc. A deathmatch wrestler that was prominent in Combat Zone Wrestling, as well as the first-ever Tournament of Survival victor, Havoc passed away this past May. Furthermore, Colon previously came out on top in the fourth Tournament of Survival, which took place last year. Longtime GCW fans wondered if he could be the first two-time Tournament of Survival winner.

The path to the top was not going to be easy for Alex Colon, however.

In the first round, Colon bested SHLAK. This led Colon to the semifinals, where he faced Atticus Cogar in a winning effort. Ultimately, Colon found himself in the finals, taking on GCW World Champion Rickey Shane Page. Despite Page having fellow 44OH teammate Gregory Iron in his corner, Colon was focused on becoming a two-time Tournament of Survival winner. Following a long path of violence and anarchy, Colon emerged victorious, making history in GCW in the process.

When it comes to deathmatch wrestling, Colon is among the most prominent names on the independent circuit. Since his professional debut in 2007, he carved a name for himself in multiple promotions. In addition to Game Changer Wrestling, Colon has been a featured star in CZW and Rockstar Pro Wrestling, just to name a few locations. He’s also been a decorated star in many places he’s wrestled, securing such titles as the CZW Wired Championship in 2013 and multiple tag team championships in RPW.

As a two-time Tournament of Survival victor, Colon is no stranger to high-stakes tournaments, either.

Case and point, he competed in the third and fourth Nick Gage Invitational tournaments, even making it to the finals in the latter. His ability to take wrestling to the extreme, even at the cost of his own body, led him to these accolades. There’s no doubt that this ability will be an asset moving forward.
