Earlier on this week, it was announced that one of England’s finest independent wrestlers Martin Kirby would be heading to Japan to make his debut for Dragon Gate (DG). Project Ego follows in the footsteps of names such as Chris Brookes (Dramatic Dream Team) and Chris Ridgeway (Pro Wrestling NOAH) to head on a tour of Japan.

Martin Kirby To Debut For Dragon Gate
While you may think Kirby’s comedic style of wrestling would make him more suited to a promotion such as DDT, that takes nothing away from the fact that he’s one hell of a wrestler. A 13 year veteran of the independent British wrestling scene, Martin Kirby has become a household name for promotions including Pro Wrestling Chaos (PWC), Defiant Wrestling, and Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE), while also wrestling some of the world’s absolute best, including Will Ospreay and Jushin “Thunder” Liger. In addition, he was also featured on 2018’s reboot of World of Sport Wrestling (WOS), where he was mostly featured in a rivalry with arch-nemesis from Defiant, “The Prestigious One” Joe Hendry.

If you know Martin, then you’ll know how much he enjoys being a fan of Dragon Gate, which makes this announcement that extra bit special. His first match for the promotion will be on Saturday, August 3rd in Okayama. Here, he will team with Ryo Saito to take on the team of Keisuke Okuda and Masaaki Mochizuki.
