This week’s episode kicked off with “Prince Pretty” Tyler Breeze vs the third man of The Forgotten Sons Jaxson Ryker. This was set-up two weeks ago after a little trash talk between the rising group and the NXT OG.

Early on this looked like it would be a showcase match for the enforcer of The Forgotten Sons, as Ryker controlled with his size and power advantage.

Breeze fought back with a few hard hitting strikes including an enzuguri, but Ryker retook control of the match briefly. Angry at Breeze’s offense, Ryker went grabbed Breeze for a chokeslam, but Breeze was able to counter into a victory roll for the win.

Furious at the loss, The Forgotten Sons immediately assaulted Breeze before the ref could even properly raise the victor’s hand.

This brought out the returning Fandango, Breeze’s longtime tag team partner, who helped Breeze clear the ring of his rivals. The two embraced as the NXT crowd sang along to Fandango’s theme.

GRIMES ADVANCES TO THE FINALS

This week featured the last semi-finals to determine who would advance to face Jordan Myles at NXT Takeover Toronto.

Like every match in this tournament, this did a great job of highlighting the strengths of both of these competitors. Reed’s size and power advantage were particularly highlighted by an impactful scoop slam.

Grimes’ has a true heel style, drawing his opponent while he was prone on the apron then snapping the middle rope right into the eyes of the bigger man.

Ultimately Grimes reigned supreme with his impressive leaping double foot stomp. Regardless of who wins, every competitor has made a great impact, and I hope they bring this tournament back in the future years to come.

The Queen of Spades came out to berate Yin for attacking her fellow Horsewomen. She called the challenger a street rat vowing to put her to sleep at NXT Takeover Toronto.

This brought out the Blasian Baddie, who immediately feigned ignorance to the attack, proceeded to make it clear she was bringing a fight that the champ couldn’t train for.

Baszler ended it promising to expose Yim as street trash, before hoisting her title in the air and engaging the challenger in a staredown.

THE BRUISERWEIGHT ENDS THE HOT STREAK OF RODERICK STRONG

The Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong faced off with the very man he betrayed when he joined the Era “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne.

The history between these men was evident, as aside from a few opportunistic moves neither man was able to truly establish control of the match.

While both men had their moments, ultimately Dunne’s targeting of Strongs arm got him the win as he tapped out from a triangle armbar.

The Velveteen Dream made his way out to the ring to taunt both of his rivals, but Dunne used this opportunity to attack the champ with his signature finger snap to close out the show.
