Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) began their journey into 2019 last night with a farewell show for two much-loved roster members, ring announcer Diego and ‘The King Of Monsters’ Jonah Rock. Coming out of the show there were three main talking points.
Firstly, the reigning PWA Tag Team Champions, the Four Nations (Jack J. Bonza and Mick Moretti) retained their titles after defeating number one contenders Juan Direction. The match started out with the champions refusing to cooperate or tag each other in but eventually they both realised that working together was the only way to win. After the match, there was a staredown between the pair, who are set to face-off one on one in the finals of the Colosseum tournament at the next show Fight For Black Metal on February 22.
The next major talking point was the incredible triple threat match between the three Australian representatives from 2018’s Battle Of Los Angeles in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG); Jonah Rock, Adam Brooks and Robbie Eagles. This match was everything fans expected, with all three men pulling out all of the stops to give Rock the send-off he deserved.
It was later confirmed at the end of the show by Diego, during his farewell speech, that Rock has indeed signed with WWE.
@Jonah_Rock, it’s been a pleasure watching you grow over the years into a world class competitor. Good luck my friend #ClawsUp pic.twitter.com/0h18p9B3Ko

Finally, the main event of the evening saw the brash young upstart Matty Wahlberg taking on Jimmy Havoc in a No DQ match. This match was a brutal as everyone was expecting with the use of a hammer, barbed wire wrapped 2×4, chairs, the ring bell, thumbtacks, a table and even light tubes.
Wahlberg, who is known for his silver tongue and athletic prowess, was able to show his toughness and brutality in this match as he ultimately picked up the win via a curb stomp through light tubes.
