Since its acquisition by WWE, Lucha Libre AAA has been home to many intense feuds between many great wrestlers. Dominik Mysterio beat El Hijo del Vikingo to become AAA Mega Champion. The mask vs. mask match led to Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano declaring victory over Chad Gable after many months of fighting.
La Catalina has become a star in the women’s division. But on the June 20, 2026 episode of AAA, a returning faction made its presence known in a huge way.
Los Perros del Mal was revived by Daga, who brought along Angel, Berto, Bronco Nima, and Karmen Petrovic. They attacked Americano, making everyone know that they’re not in AAA to have fun.
Three weeks later, they decided to attack him again, but this time Mysterio made the save. It was then decided that a tag match would happen between them and two members of Los Perros del Mal. This is a great decision for everyone involved in the match for many reasons.
El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio Can Form a Necessary Alliance
Both Americano and Mysterio have a common enemy in Los Perros del Mal. But they also have enemies outside of the ring. Mysterio’s father, Rey, is the current AAA General Manager. He definitely knows his son’s cheating ways with Judgment Day. There’s no question the current AAA Mega Champion uses every advantage he can to win.
The same cheating tactics have helped Americano win over the last several months. If Rey handicaps Dominik somehow, Americano will use his loaded mask to win and vice versa.
Gable hasn’t seen Americano since he lost the mask vs. mask match. There’s going to be a point in time where they meet up, and he won’t be accepting his apology. A matchup between an unmasked Gable and Americano could be even more personal than their other encounters. If this ends up being a legitimate partnership, Mysterio can provide backup in order for him to escape without harm before anything can get too messy.

Nima and Petrovic Get Experience with Main Roster Talent
One of the best things about AAA so far is the talent mix. Many main roster wrestlers have shown up, including Damian Priest ahead of his title vs. title match with R-Truth against the War Raiders. But there’s also been NXT talent competing in matches.
Bronco Nima and Karmen Petrovic are the latest arrivals from NXT. Sticking them in a stable with AAA mainstay Daga and Friday Night SmackDown’s Angel and Berto will give them knowledge inside and outside the ring.
Even though Petrovic won’t be in the match, she now has an opportunity to wrestle Bayley, La Catalina, Lady Flammer, and others who have decades of experience. If Nima gets in the match, he gets to wrestle two men who have been on the main roster for a long time.
No compatibility issues could mean that he and Lucien Price could get called up soon. The mix of AAA, main roster, and NXT talent helps create an environment where everyone learns from each other and gets better.
This Match Will Be Exciting for Everyone Involved
Making the first match of the reformed Los Perros del Mal a tag team match against Americano and Mysterio is a great decision. They have to face two men who have defined WWE participation in AAA. Americano beat Chad Gable in an epic match that was a huge payoff for months of intense fighting.
Mysterio has been AAA Mega Champion for ten months now with many entertaining moments and great retentions throughout his reign. An alliance could help them against Mysterio’s father, Rey and Gable, who could play a role in preventing them from winning.
Los Perros del Mal features two NXT regulars in Nima and Petrovic. Bringing them to AAA allows them to learn from and get in the ring with main roster wrestlers and AAA legends with decades of experience. There’s no question that they’ll learn a lot from many different people throughout their run in the faction. The match between them will be beneficial to everyone, which is why many fans greatly anticipate it.
