Who Will Win the Damian Priest/R-Truth vs. the War Raiders Title vs. Title Match?

Damian Priest and R-Truth recently celebrated 100 days as the WWE Tag Team Champions. They won the belts on the March 20, 2026 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, defeating JC Mateo and Tama Tonga to become the new champions. Since then, MFT have been after them, trying to take the titles back.

On the June 19 SmackDown, they retained the titles after some Solo Sikoa interference. Last Friday, Tama and Talla Tonga informed Sikoa that they were leaving him behind to move forward on their own.

The same night, Priest and R-Truth got a visit from the War Raiders, who are the current AAA World Tag Team Champions.

They defeated Pagano and Psycho Clown on night one of Noche de los Grandes last month to win. The two men approached Priest and R-Truth and suggested a title vs. title match between them. R-Truth pretended to not know who they were, but Priest gladly accepted to make the match official. Who will win the match between two great tag teams?

Priest and R-Truth Would Get AAA Runs

When Priest and R-Truth won the titles, fans thought their reign would be temporary. Their win took place a month before the mass releases in April, so teams such as the Motor City Machine Guns and the Wyatt Sicks were still in the company. They thought one of those teams would take the titles back.

But after many title retentions, they’ve become a pretty good tag team. Becoming double champions will allow them to compete in AAA, which would allow for more hilarious R-Truth interactions.

It will also allow for Talla and Tama to continue their storyline with them. The main reason why they lost on Friday was that Sikoa interfered with the match. Now that he’s out of the picture, they can be the wrestlers they were in New Japan. No matter who wins, they’re still focused on getting the belts back. Seeing them in AAA would be entertaining, and they have a more personal connection with Priest and R-Truth than they do with the War Raiders.

The War Raiders Would Be More Prominently Featured on TV

Erik and Ivar are both amazing wrestlers. However, due to many factors, they haven’t gotten a chance to show their skills on television much over the past couple of years. They had a previous run as WWE World Tag Team Champions last year, but two out of their four retentions led to disqualifications. Their run came to an end after getting defeated by the New Day on night one of WrestleMania 41. Since that time, they’ve mostly wrestled dark matches and live events.

A great way to re-introduce them permanently onto television is to make them double champions. Their last in-ring appearance on television was on the February 2 Monday Night Raw, as they got easily defeated by Oba Femi without any bell being run or offense on their part whatsoever. Fans may have forgotten how skilled those two actually are, which is sad for many reasons. Becoming double champions will ensure that they are used on television, something that shouldn’t be an issue given their talent.

A Title vs. Title Match Should Be Fun for Everyone

Priest and R-Truth have been an entertaining pair over the past couple of months. Many people thought they would have a transitional run as WWE Tag Team Champions, but over three months later, they are working well together and have retained their titles several times.

Erik and Ivar showed up on AAA a few months ago after months of doing dark matches and live events. They showed their talent by winning the AAA World Tag Team Championships against two AAA veterans.

A title vs. title match is a great idea that will improve both teams in the long run. Priest and R-Truth can get runs in AAA and a continued feud with Talla and Tama if they win. The War Raiders can get back on WWE television and have a chance to show their immense talent to everyone if they get the victory. No matter where and when the match takes place, it’ll be a showcase of two athletic and exciting tag teams.
