Last March, sick of losing to all the luchadors on the Monday Night Raw roster, Chad Gable went on a quest. His journey led him to don a mask himself and rebrand into El Grande Americano, which many fans weren’t too happy about. When Gable suffered an injury in late June, Ludwig Kaiser took over the role.
Kaiser’s portrayal has garnered immense appreciation and popularity from the fans. Gable returned last month at the Royal Rumble, prompting a face off between Kaiser’s Americano and Gable’s “Original” Americano. Last week, on both Raw and Lucha Libre AAA, Gable stirred up trouble for Kaiser. On Monday, entering the arena was enough for Je’Von Evans to beat him. On Saturday, he was handcuffed to an exercise machine. It’s clear the stage is set for a match between them. The only question is whether it should be at WrestleMania or TripleMania?
WrestleMania is a Homecoming for Gable’s Americano

Every year, WrestleMania hosts thousands of people in a two day span to watch their favorite wrestlers. There are always surprise debuts, interesting returns, and shocking title changes. With last year’s Mania in Las Vegas, Nevada experiencing surging popularity, WWE decided to do something not seen for decades.
They’ve decided to go back to Vegas this year. It’s clear the Americanos are one of the hottest acts in the company right now, so having a mask vs. mask match there makes sense. Also, Gable’s El Grande Americano made his PLE debut last year at WrestleMania: Vegas. He didn’t have Bravo or Rayo with him then, but he beat Rey Fenix in a great match. But it should only happen there if Gable wins and keeps his mask, forcing Kaiser to stop being El Grande Americano. Then, it’ll give Gable his WrestleMania moment two years in a row.
A TripleMania Match Will Keep Kaiser’s Momentum Going
Fans in the United States and Canada adore Kaiser’s portrayal of El Grande Americano. Everything that made Kaiser great has perfectly transferred over to Americano. It doesn’t look silly; it looks natural. The same thing can be said about the AAA crowd in Mexico. When Gable’s “Original” Americano appeared, the arena erupted in boos.
That’s why their match should be at TripleMania if Kaiser is the one keeping the gimmick. Ending his tenure in front of a crowd that obviously adores him would be very controversial. That would be a horrible mistake, as he made Americano into something everyone loves. A loss for Gable could fuel him more, as fans rightly praise him as an amazing technical wrestler.
El Grande Americano went from a caricature to an athlete thanks to Kaiser. Keeping him in the role would make fans in the United States, Canada, and Mexico happy.

For months, fans awaited the return of Gable from his injury, speculating about his El Grande Americano and Kaiser’s El Grande Americano meeting for the first time. At the Royal Rumble, it finally happened. Since then, they have been at odds, surely setting up a match in the near future. But where it takes place is a complicated question.
Gable’s Americano had his first win at WrestleMania: Vegas last year. With the event returning to Vegas this year, having Gable win would give him a Mania moment two years in a row. But Kaiser’s Americano is very over with the AAA crowd. A win for him at the next TripleMania will significantly increase his popularity. The match’s location should be determined by who will win the match, to still be El Grande Americano. It’s clear that their rivalry will only grow until the match is made official.
