CM Punk Announced as Cover Star of WWE 2K26, More Details Revealed for Game’s Release

2K Games has selected CM Punk to be the cover star of the standard edition of WWE 2K26. A trailer for the game aired on the morning of Friday, January 30, during a ESPN broadcast.

CM Punk Headlines WWE2K26

This trailer followed two separate special edition trailers, which aired last week. The Attitude Era edition was announced during SmackDown. The Monday Night Wars edition was revealed on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The World Heavyweight Champion has not appeared on the cover of a wrestling video game since THQ’s WWE 13. Ironically, that game was Attitude Era themed, similar to WWE 2K26. Punk was originally on the cover of AEW: Fight Forever, but he was removed due to his indefinite suspension from the company in 2022.

Punk had been rumored to be the cover star since Mike Straw from Insider Gaming confirmed that Punk will be the focus of the annual showcase mode. The mode will be split into three parts similar to 2K25’s Bloodline showcase.

The Chicago Native returned to the 2k franchise after a nearly decade-long absence as a DLC in WWE 2K24. Since his return to WWE in late 2023, Punk has been a prominent main eventer. He has won the World Heavyweight Championship twice and closed Night One of WrestleMania 41.

When asked about being on the cover, Punk had this to say: “As a kid, I could only dream of being on the cover of a video game. Now I join a very exclusive group of WWE Superstars who have done it twice,” said CM Punk. “I enjoyed the experience of narrating the 2K Showcase, which gave me an opportunity to tell fans the straight, unfiltered story of the moments, matches, and controversies in my career. Players will get to step into my boots, relive some of my proudest WWE moments, and take on challenges I never had the opportunity to face.”

WWE 2K26 is set for pre-order on January 30 and will launch on March 6.
