It would seem the animosity between father and son is not quite in the past when it comes to Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
Dirty Dom was out to cut a promo about how he is the greatest luchador of all-time, greatest Intercontinental and AAA Mega Champion, and naturally, as he’s been saying for months, the greatest Mysterio of all-time. The crowd cheered Dom on as he said he’s king of the luchadores and there is no man on the planet who can stop him…
As is always the case when a wrestler makes a provocation like that, Dom was interrupted by none other than his dear old, deadbeat dad, Rey Mysterio. The crowd cheered as Rey made his return to the ring for the first time since he was injured just prior to WrestleMania 41. Commentary noted there had been rumblings that Rey was on the verge of being cleared as he made his way to the ring. Rey told Dom that he can say he’s the greatest champion all he wants but he draws the line at him saying he’s king of the luchadores. Rey mentions guys like El Santo, Blue Demon, and Eddie Guerrero and asks if Dom thinks he’s better than them. That leads to the line of the night as after an ‘Eddie’ chant from the crowd, Dom tells Rey to “keep my father’s name out of your mouth.” Dom follows up by saying he does think he’s better than all of them but there is one luchador he knows he’s better than and that’s Rey.
Rey tells Dom he’s not going to let him disrespect lucha libre to which Dom asks what he’s going to do about it. Dom thinks Rey is jealous because he is the one who made the Mysterio name relevant and Rey is just there to cash in on that success. Dom says he’s already surpassed everything Rey has ever done and he’s going to kick his ass again if Rey doesn’t leave his ring right now.

Once again, Rey tells Dom he can say what he wants but he needs his son to understand that as long as Rey is around, three things are true: Dom will never be king of the luchadores, this will never be his ring, and he will never be the greatest Mysterio. Dom tries a cheapshot but Rey fires back and hits Dom with a 6-1-9. He climbs for the frogsplash but Dom rolls out of the ring and heads up the apron.
Things are about to get interesting with Rey back as he could challenge Dom for either the Intercontinental Championship or AAA Mega Championship. Or perhaps, it will be a non-title match to knock some sense into his son. Either way, seems we are headed for the latest chapter in the Mysterio family feud.
