Huge WWE World Title Announcement Made at Beginning of Monday Night Raw

Adam Pearce promised us an update on Seth Rollins and the WWE world title, and boy did he have one to give.

Pearce kicked off Raw before he was interrupted by the Vision. Pearce noted everyone knew Rollins was banged up after Crown Jewel but the world will never know just how bad. Pearce indicated that it was the actions of the Vision, specifically Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker that are why he was there today. While he credited the attack by the Brons and not the Crown Jewel match for Rollins’ both real and now kayfabe injury angle, Pearce said the champ just had (real) surgery and will (actually) be on the shelf for months. That being said, he vacated the title and in short order:

  • announced a new champion would be crowned at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November
  • announced CM Punk, who earned the #1 contendership last week, would be in the match
  • announced Punk would face the winner of an over-the-top battle royal…that would happen tonight.
An injury to Seth Rollins has led to a huge shift in the WWE world title picture.

In short, Pearce wasted no time transitioning the title and keeping storylines moving. We here at Last Word on Pro Wrestling wish Seth Rollins a speedy and full recovery.
