WWE’s Greatest Power Couples

Power couples have always had an integral part in professional wrestling. In WWE, they are an easy pairing to work a story around. They give the fans the perfect combination to either cheer or boo, depending on the circumstance. These couples are an ideal reflection of the relationships that we have all gone through, and when they are going well, there can be no force more unstoppable.

In the history of WWE, there have been some fantastic power couples. Those who ran the company and became integral to programming. They were the couples that we loved, the couples that wouldn’t stand to see together. They became the greatest power couples in WWE history, and their accolades shall be recognized below. (For this list, we will be looking at those couples who were together on and off television. It makes things more interesting.)

Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch

We can begin with the most recent example of a tremendous power couple that is still running WWE to this day. The power couple that is Seth Rollins and Beck Lynch have been at the apex of World Wrestling Entertainment for years. They met while working with the company, and their union has been a spark to both of their careers.

Rollins and Lynch were big stars before their nuptials, but once together, they became unstoppable. Behind the scenes, they have been the leaders of their respective locker rooms. When they step in front of the camera, they are at the forefront of WWE. Together, they have amassed a collection of championships that rivals none. The Man and The Architect are the power couple of today.

Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth

During the Golden Era, a plethora of larger-than-life talents emerged, but there was only one first couple in professional wrestling. Randy Savage had the type of valet that every wrestler dreamed of. A beautiful woman to accompany him to the ring, but one who had no issues making sure her charge would be walking away victorious. Together with Miss Elizabeth, Randy Savage gave us the first must-see couple in WWE.

Randy Savage and Elizabeth were the perfect combination of pomp and circumstance. They looked fantastic, headed to the ring, and they drew the envy of everyone in the audience and locker room.  In an era where there was no shortage of big personalities, the attention was on the power couple who started it all.

The Miz and Maryse

This could be the most unlikely of power couples to make it on the list, but The Miz and Maryse have been ruling the company for years. Outside of WWE, they have been the couple with the most commercial success. They were stars on WWE reality television twice over and have branched out into most mainstream media outlets.

Inside WWE, Maryse and The Miz have formed one of the best heel duos in WWE history. Their reign over the mid-card was iconic, and they drew the type of heel heat that bookers dream of. They worked incredibly well within their talents and were the perfect foil for any babyface that was willing to step in the ring opposite them. Miz and Mrs. are talents that deserve their flowers, and they are getting them here.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

Some power couples are here based on their abilities in the ring. While Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have their in-ring talents, they are on this list for being the most literal of power couples.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were the definition of life imitating art. They started as a couple in storylines, using McMahon’s familial ties to maintain a stranglehold over the WWE Championship. They drew the ire of everyone in the company with their blatant abuse of this power.

Flash forward a few years, and they are still married, but running the show behind the scenes. They are leading the charge for WWE, but this time using their stroke to better the company. Whether it be on television or behind the curtain, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have been the quintessential power couple of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Edge and Lita

Most of the power couples on this list have more staying power than Edge and Lita, but some didn’t have the impact in the short amount of time that these two had.

The whirlwind of drama that surrounded these two during the Ruthless Aggression Era was insane. When the news broke of Lita’s affair with Edge, the fans rebelled. Matt Hardy was beloved, and this betrayal was something that would not go unpunished. WWE, being smart, used this hatred and put Edge and Lita together, making them one of the most hated couples in company history.

Together, Edge and Lita were at the top of their game. They blended reality and fiction expertly and were a top attraction with WWE. Their segments are among the highest rated in company history. They held a monopoly over the top men’s and women’s championships during their run, and were top heels until Lita left the company. It was a short run for the Rate R power couple, but a very memorable one.
