Lance Storm Refs Match of Two Star Students, Reunites ECW Tag Team

WHAT (Wrestling Has A Tomorrow) Wrestling, a new promotion out of Rhode Island, recently held their second event this past Saturday night with a stacked card featuring some stellar match ups. One of them, Teddy Hart vs. AR Fox, was a featured Match Point on our site last month. Other matches included Anthony Henry vs. Austin Theory, Keith Lee vs. Martin Stone (NXT’s Danny Burch), plus a main event of Tommy Dreamer & Matt Tremont vs. JT Dunn & Jimmy Jacobs.

And one match had some interesting story behind it. The women’s match featured Tenille Dashwood (formerly Emma in the WWE) facing off against Rachael Ellering, with special guest referee, Lance Storm. What made this whole thing so interesting is that both women are graduates of Lance Storm’s Storm Wrestling Academy. Dashwood moved to Canada from Australia back in 2009 to train with Lance Storm (and wrestled in Vancouver’s ECCW, where she was a 2x ECCW Women’s Champion), while Ellering trained with Storm in 2015 and debuted with Edmonton’s Prairie Wrestling Alliance (PWA). With both Dashwood and Ellering both now big stars in the world of wrestling, it was nice for the teacher to be able to see his students up close and see just how far they’d come.

Them during the main event, another former ECW star made an appearance, in the form of former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Justin Credible. After seeming coming to assist JT Dunn, he turned on him and helped Tommy Dreamer. After the match, Lance Storm came to the ring and posed with Credible, reuniting The Impact Players. Credible and Storm were 2x ECW World Tag Team Champions during the original ECW run before Credible branched off to become ECW World Heavyweight Champion and Lance Storm headed off to WCW. Credible has had a rocky road the past year, entering rehab for substance abuse and then falling off the wagon a few months back. But like Scott Hall and Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Credible is now under the mentorship of Diamond Dallas Page and by all accounts is back on track and looking better than he’s looked since the original Impact Player days.
