WWE boasts a stacked roster with many performers who have been with the company for years. While some have faded into obscurity, others have garnered significant fan appreciation. Karrion Kross is one such performer whose storytelling skills and in-ring action have been praised by both the WWE Universe and critics alike. However, his loss to Sami Zayn at this year’s SummerSlam left many feeling that the company may have missed an opportunity with the “Herald of Doomsday.”

The Karrion Kross Journey
Karrion Kross worked with WWE from 2020 to 2021 alongside his partner, Scarlett. They were released from their WWE contracts on November 4, 2021. Kross returned to the company on the August 5, 2022, episode of SmackDown, where he attacked Drew McIntyre and sent a bold message to then-Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns.
It initially seemed like Triple H, as the creative head of the company, made the right call with Kross’s return. However, things quickly went downhill. Kross was relegated to minor backstage segments or storylines that failed to captivate fans. His SummerSlam 2025 loss to Sami Zayn and his absence from this week’s Raw episode have raised questions about his future with WWE, especially as his contract is set to expire this weekend.
Karrion Kross' WWE contract is reportedly set to expire this weekend.
A WWE higher-up has reportedly claimed that Kross and Scarlett have not been offered new deals, but that the company has not indicated to the pair that their deals will be allowed to lapse.

The Kross Effect: Worked But Failed
Karrion Kross returned to WWE in 2022 to a thunderous ovation. His attack on Drew McIntyre and intense staredown with Roman Reigns sparked excitement among fans. However, WWE failed to capitalize on this hype. As Roman Reigns became embroiled in other storylines, Kross aligned with the Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering to form The Final Testament.
Their feud with Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits generated little fan interest. The lackluster reaction to their entrance at WrestleMania XL underscored the fans’ disengagement with their storyline.
With the Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering released, Kross was left to fend for himself, but his efforts fell flat. He attempted to play a devil’s advocate role, which resonated with some fans, but WWE’s creative team failed to craft a storyline that could propel him into the main event scene.
Karrion Kross and His Mysterious Role
Karrion Kross’s character exudes a mysterious aura. The “Life is Fighting” writer aimed to portray a mystic persona, but it failed to connect with the WWE Universe fully,,. While fans appreciated his unique presentation, it paled in comparison to the well-executed characters of The Undertaker, Bray Wyatt, or The Wyatt Sicks.
The former MLW performer knows he has a distinctive style that fans appreciate, but it hasn’t translated into main roster success. A significant drawback is that Kross has only won the NXT Championship twice and has struggled to replicate that success on the main roster.
I want to personally thank everyone for reading- and also every independent podcast/news/fans who shared or discussed my book on the way to this week as word of mouth made it possible for people to know about my life story.

What’s Next for Karrion Kross?
Karrion Kross’s WWE career may be nearing its end. According to Fightful Select, both his and his wife Scarlett’s contracts are set to expire this weekend, with no new deals offered. This raises questions about whether WWE will grant the talented wrestler a last-minute opportunity or if the company is deliberately keeping plans under wraps, with details to be revealed at the eleventh hour.
If WWE loses Kross and Scarlett this weekend, other promotions would likely eagerly pursue a talent like Karrion Kross. AEW, for instance, could position him as the new leader of the House of Black, now known as The Hounds of Hell.
Unreal.
They write the scripts…
But the fans write the truth.
