The Alpha Slays the Dragon Again

Konosuke Takeshita wins back-to-back tournament matches after beating Shingo Takagi in the main event. He now has six points while Takagi is still at two and has technically yet to win a match in this year’s tournament since his points came by Gabe Kidd’s forfeiture.

Takeshita is now 2-0 against Takagi, having beaten him in their double-title match at Wrestle Kingdom 19 last January. His only loss in the tournament so far was against NJPW World TV champion El Phantasmo.

ZSJ Tastes Victory Over ELP

Coming into his champion vs. champion showdown against El Phantasmo, IWGP World Heavyweight champion Zack Sabre Jr.’s only points came by Gabe Kidd’s forfeit. His win over ELP was his first taste of a decisive victory in this year’s tournament.

ZSJ, also the defending G1 winner, now has four points. ELP, on the other hand, suffered its second straight loss, third overall, with four points.

Undefeated No More

YOSHI-HASHI went up to eight points after Gabe Kidd withdrew from the tournament and still has the solo lead in the A Block. However, his record is no longer perfect, following his defeat at the hands of the Great O-Khan.

O-Khan now has six points and is currently in a good position to qualify for the playoffs.

In another B Block match, Ren Narita finally got a win over Shota Umino for the first time in 10 matches. Umino has four points while Narita is tied with O-Khan, Takeshita, and Drilla Moloney with six.

Day seven of the tournament will take place tomorrow, with Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Ryohei Oiwa slated as the main event.
