The May 27 edition of WWE NXT provided the fallout from Battleground. Right at the top of the show, a shocking title change took place.
Ricky Saints vs. Ethan Page
Ricky Saints and Ethan Page have had issues for a while now, and they kicked off the May 27 show. The pair had extra security and officials at ringside, but the match still descended into absolute chaos. NXT General Manager Ava came out and made it clear to the in-ring official that she needed a clear winner, so the match was allowed to play out.
This resulted in one of the more brutal matches in recent NXT history. Saints and Page were inflicting as much brutality on each other as possible, but the latter was the one who managed to do the most damage. With a steel chair conveniently placed on the floor outside the ring, Page planted Saints right onto it, with the chair causing injury to his throat.
This is absolute CHAOS! 😱@OfficialEGO might have just ended @starkmanjones for good!! 😲#WWENXT pic.twitter.com/JMzyay5XFl

That was ultimately the turning point, as Saints never performed at 100% after that. No matter what he tried, Page was able to target his weakness at that point – his throat. Page ultimately managed to pick up the victory.

#ANDNEW NXT North American Champion
Ethan Page becomes the 26th holder in the North American Champion’s lineage. Although he has held the NXT Championship, this is his first time holding the North American Championship. Ricky Saints’ reign ends at just 56 days.
Page will now be the one to defend the NXT North American Championship at the Worlds Collide event on Saturday, June 7. His opponent is yet to be determined, but it could very well be someone from AAA.
ALL. EGO. 😄👈
