Jacy Jayne Defeats Stephanie Vaquer in Shock NXT Title Change

The May 27 edition of WWE NXT was a loaded one filled with surprises right from the start to the end. The biggest shock of the night came from the women’s division. Jacy Jayne defeated Stephanie Vaquer to claim the top women’s prize.

Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jacy Jayne

Stephanie Vaquer walked into the May 27 edition of NXT as the reigning Women’s Champion, but it did not end that way. Vaquer defended the title against Jacy Jayne in what many thought was going to be an extension of La Primera’s dominance.

From the opening bell, the pair charged at each other. The odds were already stacked against Vaquer, as Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx were ringside, but her first set of trouble came in the form of a different pair.

AAA’s Chik Tormenta and Dalys (who will be facing Vaquer and Lola Vice in tag team action at Worlds Collide) appeared and tried to distract Vaquer. Vice handled Tormenta and Dalys, but Vaquer still had to deal with Fatal Influence.

It seemed that the issues between Fatal Influence were leading to miscommunication, but they soon got back on the same page. This opened the door for Jayne to pick up a shocking victory.

#ANDNEW NXT Women’s Champion

With the victory, Jacy Jayne captures her first singles championship in WWE. This also brings Stephanie Vaquer’s first reign as NXT Women’s Champion to an end at 78 days.

It will be interesting to see how this title influences the dynamic of Fatal Influence. Beyond that, what is next for Stephanie Vaquer?
