Five Reasons Why AEW Should Produce Wrestling Documentaries

AEW Announced Residency for Philadelphia’s 2300 “ECW” Arena

AEW has announced that in August, they will not just bring one show to Philadelphia’s historic 2300 Arena, the home of ECW. Instead, on X, the promotion has announced a string of seven shows. This residency will occur from Wednesday, August 27th, to Thursday, 11th September.

The residency will consist of three episodes of Dynamite, three episodes of Collision, and ROH’s Death Before Dishonor PPV.

Dynamite will air from the arena on August 27th, September 3rd, and September 10th. Collision on August 30th, September 6th, and September 11th. Death Before Dishonour will occur on Friday, 5th September.

An official statement on AEW’s website reads:

We are thrilled to bring AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision to the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia from August 27 to September 11. This residency has been years in the making, highlighted by an overwhelming demand from both fans and media alike for this legendary venue to host AEW events.  I look forward to returning to the 2300 Arena for the first time since I was 13 years old and bring our passionate fans in Philadelphia an incredible few weeks of AEW shows this summer.” (Tony Khan, AEW.com)

Ticket information will be announced soon.

This is the company’s second residency following the success of last year’s Collision residency at Esports Arena in Arlington, Texas. Given the Tony Khan-led company’s love of paying tribute to history, you have to imagine there will be tributes and links to ECW. Perhaps as well, the building’s broader, more recent history with wrestling.
