Hirooki Goto and Zack Sabre Jr. Run It Back

Three months after one of the biggest upsets of the year, Hirooki Goto once against stands across from Zack Sabre Jr. at Resurgence. Since dethroning Sabre at New Beginning in Osaka, Goto has defended his gold against legends such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, rising stars like Shota Umino, and breakout names like Callum Newman. At Wrestling Dontaku, the latter pushed the veteran to his limits, but Goto survived and continued his reign.

In the aftermath of that match, Sabre made his presence felt, commending Goto on an impressive run but promising to bring that all to an end. Now, Goto faces the biggest threat to his reign yet, and it is the man he defeated to kick it all off. With Shingo Takagi already lurking as the next challenger, neither Goto nor Sabre can afford a misstep in this high-stakes main event.

Mercedes Mone Defends Gold In Three-Way Action

From the moment NJPW Resurgence 2025 was announced, it was clear that the event would revolve around ‘The CEO’ Mercedes Mone. The reigning and defending STRONG Women’s Champion defends her title against both Mina Shirakawa and AZM in what promises to be a high-octane, unpredictable encounter. Shirakawa and AZM both got a shot after their number one contender’s match at Windy City Riot ended in a double count-out and backstage chaos.

For Shirakawa, this is personal, with revenge fueling her since losing her British Women’s Championship to Mone at Wrestle Dynasty. On the other side, AZM is hungry to finally claim the spotlight following a string of near-misses. Yet, standing tall adorned in gold and a lengthy winning streak, Mone remains the heavy favourite, but could it all come crashing down at Resurgence?

War Dogs Stand United Against Young Bucks

NJPW returning to Ontario, California was too enticing for The Young Bucks to ignore. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson step back into the NJPW ring at Resurgence for the first time since New Beginning in Osaka. This comes in the wake of an intense civil war that saw the War Dogs thwart House of Torture, thus making it clear that they are the undisputed faction of Bullet Club – but The Young Bucks were not impressed.

Having been a part of the Bullet Club’s early days, The Young Bucks believe their era remains superior. At Resurgence, The Young Bucks have promised to bring “some OG buddies” to join them in eight-man tag team action. The two eras of Bullet Club will clash in a highly-combustible match.
