What Just Happened?
Night one of WrestleMania 41 ended with the twist no one predicted. Seth Rollins walked away from the main event victorious. Though many could have predicted this, no one saw Rollins walking out of Las Vegas with Paul Heyman.
In the closing moments of Saturday’s main event, Heyman became the focal point of the entire show. It all began when all three men were down inside the ring, and Heyman made his way to the timekeeper’s area. Heyman proceeded to grab a steel chair and make his way to the ring. Heyman took his time deliberating whether to assist Roman Reigns or CM Punk.
After a moment of pause, Heyman handed the chair to Punk, and it seemed all was right in the world. Punk raised the chair above his head to strike Reigns down, and Heyman took the opportunity to low-blow Punk, changing his alliance.
With Punk down, Heyman wasted no time handing the chair to his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. Reigns viciously attacked Punk before having his attention turned to Rollins. Once Reigns had the kill shot lined up, Heyman attacked Reigns just as he had Punk.
With both men down, Heyman made his true allegiance clear. He had aligned himself with The Visionary, Seth Rollins.
What’s Next for Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins?
What does this mean for Rollins and Heyman going forward? As we have seen throughout history, Paul Heyman means only one thing: success. With the Wiseman in his corner, Rollins will undoubtedly see himself at the top of the WWE mountain.
Rollins will likely turn his attention to Jey Uso and the World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins will have a mountain to climb when it comes to getting away from Punk and Reigns. However, I do not see Rollins wasting much of his precious time on anyone without a championship around their waist.
Seth Rollins has spent the majority of his career as a mouthpiece for himself and a leader of men. Now that Rollins will have Heyman by his side to guide him, he may very well become the most dangerous version of Seth Rollins we have ever seen.
Whether it be Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, or Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman only knows how to make superstars into champions and legends. After years of being the workhorse of the WWE, it is time for Rollins to become the pinnacle of sports entertainment.
What’s Next for Roman Reigns and CM Punk?
The two men left lying in the ring after all these events won’t go away easily. CM Punk fought vigorously to get to this main event moment, just to see it be stolen by his best friend. Expect to see Punk searching for the answers he deserves on the Raw after WrestleMania.
Whether he gets the answers he seeks or not, I believe Punk will turn his attention to one last championship run. The Second City Saint has much bigger things on the horizon.
As for the OTC, Roman Reigns, expect to see him disappear for a brief time. I believe Reigns will see this as his wake-up call that he truly is on his own.
Reigns will be lying in wait for his opportunity to take down Rollins, as he has since 2014. Without Heyman, the Bloodline, or the Shield by his side, we will finally see what Roman Reigns can do on his own.
Enjoy the Ride
The fallout from these events will be felt for months to come. Before his return in November, Heyman said that he would only come back once there was a story he could work with for the next year. Heyman’s ability of long-term stories is unfolding before our eyes. The best thing we can do, as fans, is sit back and enjoy the ride the Wiseman and The Visionary are about to take us on.
