Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare: Too Much to Handle for WWE?

The 2025 WWE Royal Rumble delivered its fair share of jaw-dropping moments, but for Cody Rhodes, it was a night of agony. His gruelling ladder match against Kevin Owens took such a toll that he was reportedly bedridden for two days afterwards. Despite the brutal punishment, Rhodes remains focused on WrestleMania 41 and is set to make his return on WWE SmackDown in Memphis, Tennessee.

A Ladder Match to Remember

Ladder matches are among the most physically demanding contests in professional wrestling. The Rhodes vs. Owens clash was no exception, as both men battered each other with steel ladders, high-risk dives, and devastating table spots.

The match’s most brutal moment came when Owens power bombed Rhodes off a ladder through two stacked tables. The impact left Rhodes barely able to stand, and though he finished the match, the damage was evident. Fans feared for his health, and as reports surfaced that he needed two full days of bed rest, speculation began about whether he could stay on the path to WrestleMania 41.

Rhodes’ Road to WrestleMania – Is It in Jeopardy?

Despite the setbacks, Rhodes wasted no time reassuring his fans. Taking to social media, he promised his return and confirmed that he would appear on Friday Night SmackDown in Memphis. This comeback will likely provide insight into his next steps on the Road to WrestleMania.

Will this setback cost him a chance at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship? Or will he prove once again why he’s one of the toughest competitors in the business?

What’s Next for Rhodes?

With WrestleMania season in full swing, Rhodes’ return on SmackDown could shake up WWE’s title picture. Will he confront Roman Reigns? Could he set his sights on a different championship? The possibilities are endless.

One thing is for certain: Cody Rhodes refuses to let pain define him. His Royal Rumble nightmare may have left him battered, but his journey is far from over. Would he be able to finish his story?
