Zack Sabre Jr. Defends Gold Against Hirooki Goto

Zack Sabre Jr. is now officially over 100 days into his reign as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, having won the gold at the King of Pro-Wrestling event in October 2024. At New Beginning in Osaka, Sabre Jr. defends the championship against Hirooki Goto, who is a veteran within NJPW.

Having been with the promotion for over two decades, Goto has held several titles within the promotion but the one that has eluded him is the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. At New Beginning in Osaka, he goes up against one of the best champions of the modern era, as he tries to finally clinch that title.

Yota Tsuji and Gabe Kidd Clash

The IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship is still a young one, having only had its inaugural champion crowned at Wrestle Kingdom 18. Yota Tsuji is the fourth champion to hold the title and, at just under 40 days into the reign, he is set to defend the gold. But he does so against quite a formidable challenger.

Gabe Kidd is a different breed, and he will be the one challenging Tsuji. The two have been feuding for a little while but it will be interesting to see how Kidd’s Bullet Club War Dogs stablemate, David Finlay, plays into this match. This can be expected to be one of the most hard-hitting matches on this card.

The Young Bucks vs. LIJ

The Young Bucks made their triumphant return to Japan at the joint Wrestle Dynasty event on January 5. They won the IWGP Tag Team Championships, and they are now over 35 days into their second reign. At New Beginning in Osaka, they are set to have their first title defense, and this will not be a walk in the park.

Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi had a cold war situation in the lead-up to their Wrestle Kingdom 19 match. Following that, they have been mending their partnership, and the IWGP Tag Team Championship could be just what they need. This is a dream match reignited, and it will certainly draw attention in the entire wrestling world.
