Pete Dunne Pulled From UK Event Rumble Weekend

Britannia Wrestling, the UK branch of Pro Wrestling International, were set to have WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne appear at their Royally Rumbled show.  The promotion celebrating 10 years as an active promotion, had booked the UK and WWE Superstar Dunne for their show on January 27th.

It was announced today on Twitter and to a dedicated event group that Pete Dunne had been pulled, due to “last minute contractual obligations to the WWE”.  In their announcement, they specifically mentioned the Royal Rumble event.  This is sure to fuel speculation that Pete Dunne could make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble event.  It wouldn’t be the first time Dunne has surprised the WWE Universe after making a surprise appearance on Raw in Manchester to defeat Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore

The “Bruiserweight” shot to prominence after debuting in the WWE United Kingdom Tournament last year.  Dunne went in as PROGRESS and NLW world champion and leader of British Strong Style. Dunne impressed fans with his hard-hitting, no remorse style.  Despite losing the final to Tyler Bate, he left the tournament as its biggest star.  In an absolute classic, Dunne claimed the UK title at NXT Takeover: Chicago.

Dunne has been replaced by Stablemate Trent Seven at Royally Rumbled.  That show will now see Moustache Mountain take on Drew Parker and Soner Durson.  That match will not disappoint and can be found on demand at https://vod.yourfightsite.com/channels/britannia-wrestling-promotions

Whether Dunne appears in the Rumble, or as part of a UK division announcement, he will leave his mark this weekend.

The Royal Rumble airs this Sunday live on the WWE Network.  Tune in to see if the Bruiserweight Pete Dunne makes an appearance as we kick off the road to WrestleMania.
