Preview: WWE Raw Tonight (12/05/22) – Monday Night Raw Card

WWE Raw tonight - Usos vs Riddle & Elias graphic

WWE Raw tonight comes to us live from the historic Capital One Arena in the nation’s capital. A fitting date to come to the Capital One Center, previously known as the MCI Center. The home of the 4 final WCW Starrcade events. Though the legendary event would take place on December starting in 1988, coincidentally the same year WCW officially formed, the earliest it would take place would be December 13. The only Starrcade to take place in the first week of December was a WWE edition. The last one they did in 2019, on December 1. We’re still not sure how is it possible the Starrcade name has not been utilized in any capacity for NXT.

An Uso Title Defense Double-Header

This week sees The Usos set for a double dose of title defenses. Of course, that’s banking if they get through the first one tonight. The longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history are set to defend their titles tonight against the team of Matt Riddle and Elias. While The Usos defeated Riddle and Randy Orton months ago to unify the two sets of Tag Team titles in what was Randy Orton’s last match before being out due to injury….. That has not been brought up. Instead, the focus of this is plainly on Riddle’s latest “odd couple” pairing with the exasperated Elias.

Should The Usos retain, they have yet another Tag Team title defense set for Smackdown, facing off against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre.

Poker Is Still Hip, Right?

The heavy heat drawing duo of Baron Corbin and JBL are organizing a “high-stakes” poker game for this week’s edition of Raw. A mix of rumors and the gimmick of a certain someone has people believing this poker game is a setup for the debut of everyone’s favorite rich redneck, Cameron Grimes. After all, JBL is also a rich redneck who made his money through investments. Seems fitting to see Cameron Grimes debut here and start his run on the main roster. And hopefully, blast off in success TO THE MOON. Or get squashed by Baron Corbin. As has been oddly customary of him since his return.

What Will Be Set Up?

There is now a big gap between Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. Meaning that there’s a good chance that many major matches might fill up the time, especially since neither of the two Premium Live Events have

much space for standard one-on-one matches. We know that at some point, Becky Lynch will seek revenge against Damage CTRL, as set up last week. Meaning that a match between The Man, Becky Lynch and The Rolemodel, Bayley, seems inevitable.

Also, Austin Theory is the United States Champion. And while his coronation wasn’t exactly the most well establishing, he’s still the brand’s midcard Champion and is expected to continue the string of big televised defenses. Will he have an open challenge? Will a challenger for the weeks ahead be set up? Let’s see. For one, it seems Seth Rollins is still after the US title after his short reign left a lot to be desired.

And finally, the war between The Judgment Day and The OC continues. We saw AJ Styles defeat Finn Balor at Survivor Series and a mixed tag team match last week. What’s next between the two groups?

All that and more WWE Raw tonight.
