#AndNEW: Hokuto Omori and Yusuke Kodama Capture All Asia Tag Team Championship

Yusuke Kodama Hokuto Omori

All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) has recently started its year off with the New Year Wars 2022 tour. This show was supposed to be headlined by Jake Lee defending his Triple Crown Championship against Abdullah Kobayashi. Unfortunately a few days before this event, Jake Lee would suffer an injury that forced him to vacate his championship. As a replacement main event, The All Asia Tag Team title match that was advertised for this show became the new main event.

At the end of the year, Hokuto Omori and Yusuke Kodama entered the Jr. Tag Battle of Glory 2021 tournament. They would end up winning this tournament in a major upset, defeating Dan Tamura and Hikaru Sato in the final. Winning this tournament automatically made them the number one contender for the All Asia Tag Team Championship, which were held at the time by El Lindaman and T-Hawk.

In the main event of the evening, we saw a great tag match between these two teams. It marked a major victory for Hokuto Omori and Yusuke Kodama when they defeated El Lindaman and T-Hawk for the All Asia Tag Team Championship. This is the first time Hokuto Omori and Yusuke Kodama have won these titles. The last title they both held was the AJPWTV Six-Man Tag Team Championship

When it comes to challengers for the new champions, it is currently unknown who could be first up. But Hokuto Omori seems to have set his focus on the junior division this year. More could be known following upcoming All-Japan shows. 2022 has started off to a major reshuffle in AJPW with potentially more to come on the New Year tour
