Fuego Del Sol vs. “The Premier Athlete” on AEW Dark

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese makes his AEW debut tonight on AEW Dark against fan favorite Fuego Del Sol!

Fans might be forgiven for not knowing that much about him, given how little importance WWE places on their cruiserweight division, but Nese is a solid worker who cut his teeth in promotions like Ring of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling, Dragon Gate, and EVOLVE, before signing with WWE in 2016 as part of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He would later become a regular on 205 Live, at one point acting as the backup for then-champion Buddy Murphy, before eventually defeating Murphy for the title on the WrestleMania 35 pre-show.

WWE released him earlier this year, but he’s been appearing in the audience on recent episodes of AEW Dynamite, so don’t be surprised if AEW signs him soon, if they haven’t already. Tonight’s match against Fuego Del Sol should be an excellent cruiserweight-style match that shows what both men can do in the ring.
