Title vs. Title: Jacob Fatu vs. Alex Hammerstone
It’s been a long time coming, but we finally get to see Alex Hammerstone battle Jacob Fatu with both belts on the line. Though Hammerstone earned his title shot at Battle Riot, these men have been on a collision course for over a year. Contra Unit set out to control MLW by holding all of their championships; Hammerstone was a frequent target for them. However, he withstood every challenge they made and came back from every beatdown they gave him. Now he has an opportunity to take what’s most precious to them, the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.
It would make for an amazing feel-good moment for all of the MLW fans who have stood by Hammerstone through his rise to the top. The downside for Hammerstone and his fans, Jacob Fatu, is the longest-reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion for a reason. Fatu is ruthless against his opponents, and he doesn’t fight to win; he fights to hurt his opponent. That being said, I do believe now is the time for Hammerstone, but I look forward to seeing these titans collide!
