7 Greatest WWE PG Era Champions

Randy Orton

Randy Orton became a household name during the Ruthless Aggression Era, but it was during the PG Era that he cemented his legacy, pun intended. The Viper’s success rate during the PG Era was ridiculous, as he captured 9 World Championships. The main event scene couldn’t have progressed were it not for the incredible work that Orton put in. As both a babyface and a heel, he was the perfect champion.

Top stars lined up to get defeated by Randy Orton. Men such as Triple H, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, and Christian fell to the Viper. Every top star of the era dropped a title to the third-generation wrestler, making a string of success that rivals any era. Randy Orton became a mainstay of the main event scene with championship success during the PG Era.

John Cena

The Leader of Cenation went on an unprecedented streak of belt collecting during the PG Era. John Cena coined the term Ruthless Aggression, but it was between 2008 and 2014 that he became a legend. Cena won 11 World Championships during the PG Era.

Big Match John dominated wrestlers such as Edge, the Big Show, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, and The Rock, with most of these matches coming when the lights were at their brightest. John Cena either went into or competed for a World Championship at 5 WrestleManias during this era, a feat only a handful of wrestlers can boast.

Outside of his World Championship reigns, John Cena also won multiple tag team championships, each with a different partner. David Otunga, Batista, and The Miz were rivals, but beneficiaries of Cena’s success during his reign of belt collecting.

About Daniel Sinasac

Dan has been a fan of wrestling since his grandmother sat him down to watch JYD and Sgt. Slaughter go to battle. That began a decades-long obsession with professional wrestling. An obsession that has developed into a love/hate relationship with the greatest entertainment medium in the world.
