A WWE WrestleMania 42 graphic of Seth Rollins vs. Gunther

WWE WrestleMania 42 – Night 1 Review (With Match Rating)

We have reached the end of the Road to WrestleMania 42. The WWE Universe has piled into Allegiant Stadium, and the world eagerly awaits WrestleMania 42 – Night One. Outside of a massive WWE Championship match, the rest of the card reads like a who’s who of great WWE talent. Talent that is ready to take that next step and show the world why they have been chosen to compete on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Seven matches fill out the first night of WrestleMania, where we will see championships decided and grudges put to bed. WWE has set the table for an incredible night of wrestling, but only after the matches are over will we know where this opening night of WrestleMania will sit amongst history. The show is about to start, so let’s sit back and see what WrestleMania Night One has in store.

The Uso’s & LA Knight vs. The Vision & iShowSpeed (2/5)

It’s a big head-scratcher for WWE to have this match start WrestleMania weekend. The opener is a coveted spot, and one that sets the tone for the rest of the weekend. The crossover into social media during the build has been fun, and is bringing more eyes to this first match.

There was some hope for this match, but that didn’t happen here. The action was reminiscent of something we would see on Monday Night Raw rather than opening WrestleMania. There was nothing offensive here; the back and forth was crisp between 5 out of the 6 men in this match. At this point in the year, we assume something a bit more grandiose from a WrestleMania opener.

The notable offense took place after the match, which raises the question of why they wouldn’t include this in the 6-man tag. iShowSpeed pulled off a fantastic splash on the outside, but again, why not have this part of the match?

About Daniel Sinasac
