A graphic of AEW Collision. It's AEW Spring BreakThru week

AEW Collision Preview (4/16/26) – AEW Spring BreakThru Continues

This week, AEW Collision will air on a special Thursday to avoid going head-to-head with WrestleMania. Following a huge post-Dynasty Dynamite (read the LIVE results here on Wednesday night), we’ve gone from famine to feast with a full seven-match card spread. So, we throw some of my previous speculation.

Kris Statlander will team again with Hikaru Shida. But after some teasing, will Shida remain content with teaming with the Cosmic Killer? Or will the former AEW Women’s World champion finally snap?

After FTR’s mockery on Wednesday night, we’ll hear from Adam Copeland. Will the Rated R Superstar accept and “move on”? Given how FTR, former friends, brutalised his wife, and the unrelenting nature of the Rated R Superstar, things can only escalate. Yet what’s in it for Christian Cage besides tag titles? Interestingly, Nick Wayne returns to AEW programming on the same night. There are still unresolved issues between the Father Figure and his formerly adopted son.

Also predicted, the new AEW World Trios champions, The Conglomeration, will not be taking things easy. Taking part in their first eliminator match tonight against Lethal Twist, we’ll find out if the Dogs are willing to let things lie after their first, one-day reign as AEW champions was snatched from them.

Lastly, could we get an announcement on this year’s Owen Hart Memorial Cup Tournament? It would be great for my predictions for All In 2026.

The Young Bucks vs. The Rascalz

With blow-away banger written all over it, seeing The Young Bucks vs. The Rascalz for the first time on TV could blow the roof off the Angel of the Wind Arena. Two innovative, high-flying teams with plenty to prove expect more than a spot fest. Nothing wrong with a good spot fest. Especially with the two teams that like our new AEW World champion, will put their hearts and souls on the line to entertain the crowd and viewers.

Beyond incredible action, it’s a battle between generations. Both teams have shared history besides competing in TNA. The Rascalz tore up the indies and spent time in the Bucks’ incubator, PWG. Previously, these teams have collided in multi-man and multi-team action. It was in SoCal where these two teams last faced each other eight years ago in 2018. We could see a new take on a previous hit, with The Rascalz, like Private Party before them, scoring a career-defining upset.

AEW Women’s World Championship

The Toxic Spider fulfilled her promise to make Jamie Hayter look like the “dumbest female dog in a business full of female dogs. Yet Alex Windsor, who defeated Marina Shafir during Dynasty’s Zero Hour, took exception to how her partner was beaten using cheap tricks. Threats to beat the urine out of Thekla have resulted in the NJPW Strong Women’s champion getting a title shot tonight!

Being reminded of Japan, the AEW Women’s World champion had to admit she was fired because Japan couldn’t handle Thekla. Windsor might be a powerhouse; she might have beaten Mercedes Moné and quickly established herself as one of the best in the women’s locker room, but can she deal with Thekla’s poison?  Also, whatever happens, are the issues with Jamie Hayter settled?
