A post on CMLL’s official X account reported on April 7, 2026, that a member of the women’s roster had departed on April 1st.
La Catalina, once featured prominently in the promotion, had faced AEW’s Mercedes Mone at Fantastica Mania and later found herself featured lower on the card. Booked as a minor player in 2026, Catalina grew frustrated with her placement on recent shows.
BodySlam+ reported that Catalina’s unhappiness stems from the influx of AEW’s women’s division increasingly appearing for CMLL, reducing her to relevant spots in opening matches. Though CMLL enjoys relationships with Stardom, NJPW, and AEW, not all talents have benefited. Catalina would announce she wouldn’t renew her CMLL contract.
She cited that there would be nothing left for her in the promotion, nor what she wanted to do moving forward. BodySlam also noted that, though nothing is official yet, the Chilean wrestler could be eyeing a spot on the WWE-owned AAA promotion in Mexico.
Catalina previously wrestled for WWE between 2019 and 2021, under the name Carolina. There, she teamed with Sin Cara in a debut against Andrade and Zelina Vega on WWE Monday Night Raw. Later, she faced NXT talents, who would become integral parts of the WWE Main roster shows, like WWE Friday Night SmackDown and WWE Raw, such as Bianca Belair and Candice LeRae. Other talents she locked up with included Xia Li and Sarray. Catalina departed WWE in 2021, mostly because of an expiring visa.

In CMLL, Catalina rose amongst the company’s top women’s talents, acting as one of the company’s up-and-coming talents. Catalina spent much time there in a long-running rivalry with current WWE superstar Stephanie Vaquer. In CMLL, Catalina held the CMLL Universal Amazons Championship. Her last CMLL match to date was on March 31 at Arena Coliseo at CMLL Martes De Glamour.
It seems like we may be seeing La Catalina on another grand scale sooner rather than later.
