Rey Mysterio Raw title card

Rey Mysterio Returns to Raw and Announces He’s in the WrestleMania Ladder Match

On Monday night, Je’Von Evans, Penta, and Dragon Lee gave Los Americanos a taste of what Rusev and JD McDonagh are in for at WWE WrestleMania 42 as the five men take part in an explosive ladder match for Penta’s Intercontinental Championship. But, as it turns out, six men are vying for Penta’s title as Rey Mysterio, the final participant in the match, revealed himself on Monday night.

Rey Mysterio is Officially Back and Ready for WrestleMania

As Penta, Evans, and Lee celebrated their victory, Rey Mysterio’s music hit, and the legend made his grand return. Mysterio was on commentary for AAA this weekend and has made non-wrestling appearances over the last few months, but he hasn’t been seen in a ring since the Royal Rumble back in January. Mysterio has been sidelined with an injury, much like he was last year around this time. But unlike last year, Mysterio won’t be missing WrestleMania.

Rey Mysterio entered the ring to tell Penta and the others that this has the chance to be the greatest ladder match in WrestleMania history, and he certainly knows something about that. After all, he’s been in some of the greatest matches. However, Mysterio said, there was one thing missing. He wasn’t good to go last year, but Mysterio wasn’t going to miss a second WrestleMania in a row. So, he spoke to Adam Pearce, and they both agreed that the Intercontinental Championship ladder match was missing one more man, and that man was Rey Mysterio.

This year marks Mysterio’s 15th WrestleMania match, yet another extraordinary accomplishment in what is soon to be a Hall of Fame career. There were rumors that Mysterio was set to be Gunther’s opponent this year at the Show of Shows, but it would seem Mysterio isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet. There is even a chance Mysterio walks out of WrestleMania with his first title in three years and third Intercontinental Championship overall.
