Times WWE Broke Our Hearts and Times They Warmed Our Hearts

Broke Our Hearts – Cody Rhodes Doesn’t Finish His Story

Roman Reigns’ run with WWE’s top prize was an impressive feat, but as we inched closer to WrestleMania 39, it seemed to be over. Cody Rhodes had emerged as the company’s new top star, and after his Royal Rumble victory, it seemed assured that he would be leaving WrestleMania as the new World Champion. It would have been a fitting end to Reign’s iconic run and a great introduction for Cody Rhodes to the main event.

The world wanted to see Cody Rhodes win his first WWE Championship and finish the story that he started years before. After a gruelling match, Rhodes had vanquished all obstacles before him and looked primed to win the strap. That was before Solo Sikoa broke our hearts and cost Cody Rhodes the championship. We all thought the story was finished, but WWE had other plans. Rhode’s expression after the match mirrored what we all felt.

Warmed Out Hearts – The Hitman and Heartbreak Kid Bury The Hatchet

In terms of personal rivalry, none has been more intense than Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. They were rivals on screen, but their hatred of one another behind the scenes has been well documented. Everyone has heard the stories, and of course, the events surrounding the Montreal Screw job sent their personal problems to another level. Hart and Michaels had a hatred that no one ever thought would be mended.

When Bret Hart finally returned to WWE, we waited with bated breath to see what would happen. It was a question that was soon answered when they came face to face in the ring. After what seemed like an eternity, the two men embraced, effectively burying the hatchet. It was a beautiful moment that taught us that even the most broken fences can be mended.
