Times WWE Broke Our Hearts and Times They Warmed Our Hearts

Broke Our Hearts – Shawn Michaels Retires Ric Flair

The wrestling world knew that Ric Flair’s career was coming to an end. His age had put a time limit on his in-ring capability, and when it was announced that every match he competed in during his career would be on the line, it put the writing on the wall. So, he was slated to face Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania; we knew that would be Ric Flair’s swan song.

Even though we knew it was over, it still didn’t make it any easier to stomach. The visual of Ric Flair in tears and HBK prepared to superkick the Nature Boy was as emotional as any. There was not a dry eye in Orlando as we witnessed the end of Ric Flair’s career.

Warmed Our Hearts – Daniel Bryan Wins The WWE Championship

The Yes Movement was a testament to the power of the WWE Universe. Daniel Bryan was beloved by all, but didn’t fit the mold of what the office wanted in its top stars.  The powers that be were very vocal about the fact that Daniel Bryan would never reach the heights that we all wanted him to. And they stopped at nothing to make sure that he wouldn’t rise above.

Against all odds, and with the help of a fan-inspired takeover, Daniel Bryan tapped out Batista to close WrestleMania as the WWE Champion. It was a massive moment for everyone as it was a victory not just for Bryan but for all of us. The WWE fans’ support turned the tide of Daniel Bryan’s career, and we got to see a man who was never going to break the glass ceiling smash through it.
