Who Had the Best Month in AEW? – January 2026

JetSpeed Blast Off in Singles and Trios Action

JetSpeed’s 2025 had an impressive run. Instantly, they fit right into AEW as though they’ve been there since 2019. Speedball Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight separately had standout matches very early on.

These former TNA talents wouldn’t have to wait long in January 2026 to find their place. Aligning with Hangman Adam Page to take on The Opps, JetSpeed excitedly joined forces with the cowboy. On the Maximum Carnage edition of Collision, the three won the AEW World Trios Championship, marking Powerhouse Hobbs’s final appearance on AEW programming. History was made this night, as Bailey became the first non-binary champion in AEW history, a fact celebrated by many LGBT+ fans and outlets.

JetSpeed is among the groups of talents that make AEW shine as a place to celebrate diversity. Moreover, their talents emphasize that they are on an “elite” level. Working alongside Hangman Adam Page, one of the company’s biggest stars, increases that effect. Throughout their careers in NJPW, TNA, and the independent/international scene, at last, this duo shows the world who they are on a large scale on national U.S. television.

Davis & Doyle

Don Callis gained another brickhouse in his high-caliber players team this month. Ahead of TNA iMPACT’s AMC debut, one of its advertised stars jumped ship to AEW. Immediately, the former Jake Something found himself slotted alongside the similarly sized Australian, Mark Davis. His new name? Jake Doyle, his real last name. Together, they operate as Davis & Doyle when not in tandem with the greater Don Callis Family.

Instantly, the pair gained visibility upon Doyle’s debut, or should I say, return (he lost to Jay Lethal, Matt Sydal, and Danhausen on the now-defunct AEW Dark. Introduced after demolishing JetSpeed off-screen, Doyle immediately set the precedent that he would be one of the stable’s many enforcers. Since aligning with Davis, the duo defeated the equally beefy GOA, the veteran Young Bucks, and the underdog JetSpeed. This earned them a title shot against the current Men’s World Tag Team Champions, FTR. To further prove their merit, Davis & Doyle would destroy fellow new signees Alec Price and Jordan Oliver on January 24’s Collision.

It’s too early to say where Davis & Doyle will end up in the grand scheme of things, but they were off to a hot start. Upon entry, the team was a threat. Nasty and snarling monster heels. Sadly, their hot start came to a cold stop on January 28 when Doyle tore his bicep in D&D’s match with FTR. Still, they’ve shown what they can do together, so here’s to hoping AEW changes the conversation around its collection of hosses to elevate these beefcakes when he returns.
