When AEW Dynamite returns to Cedar Park, Texas, the chances that this could be the best Dynamite of the year thus far are high, given that three big AEW championship matches have been announced so far. Each offers something fresh. Each offers its own unique dynamics, clash of personalities, and potential for what’s next.
Interestingly, two-thirds of these matches have a Don Callis Family representative competing for gold. Although Don Callis has said it was Kyle Fletcher’s destiny to hold and be the greatest TNT champion, Mark Briscoe takes on the undefeated El Clone. We’ll delve into this contest shortly.
Speaking of undefeated, the muscular, big beef pairing of Mark Davis and Jake Doyle will take on FTR. As a tag team clash goes, this may have an old-school feel and get extremely dirty and physical. FTR faces an unpredictable force, as they are still developing their chemistry. Given how explosive Davis and Doyle have been already, this match has show-stealer potential.

AEW Women’s World Championship
We’re going to find out how strong a web the Toxic Spider has cast around the Cosmic Killer. When Thekla challenges Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s World Championship on Wednesday, we’re going to see if the mind games and attempts to get into Big Stat Daddy’s head have stuck.
For months, Thekla has been patiently waiting. Happy to allow Jamie Hayter her opportunity, Thekla’s Triangle of Madness buzzed around Hayter and Statlander like mosquitoes. Both Skye Blue and Julia Hart have done most of the fighting, but Thekla’s never been too far away, picking her moments.
It was in trios action that Thekla pinned Statlander after pushing Statlander into sacrificing herself in place of a friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend-again, Willow Nightingale. Despite the loss and Thekla’s talk of the pressure of the world and the championship on Statlander’s shoulders, Statlander hasn’t seemed phased. Yet, one-on-one, without places to hide, can the Toxic Spider dominate a woman with a galactic mindset?
TNT Championship: Mark Briscoe vs. El Clone
AEW TNT Champion, Mark Briscoe, issued the challenge on two Collisions ago to the undefeated El Clone. On behalf of his injured teammate, Briscoe is happy to give the Don Callis Family member a shot. The corrupted version of Hologram has been impressive. El Clone’s last singles match against Kommander was a fan-favourite from AEW’s last Arlington Collision.
Not only able to replicate Hologram’s moves, but with additional unique manoeuvres, twists, and body language, this red and black attired luchador is going to push Briscoe differently. Whereas Hechihero is fast but relies on technical prowess, El Clone has the speed advantage. EL Clone has unpredictability and newness on his side. It’s going to be hard for Briscoe to be prepared for an arsenal he has not fully seen.
As a clash of styles goes, this could be another fantastic showcase for the Sussex County Chicken Farmer. Briscoe can perform at his best when faced with the unexpected. Likewise, for El Clone, this is his first chance to showcase his skills against a non-Lucha-based wrestler.
Beyond the ring and match, I’ve mentioned the looming and ongoing battle between The Conglomeration and The Don Callis Family. Callis wants the TNT Championship back in the Family. How is that going to affect the ringside area during the match? What’s going to happen before or after the match bell?
