Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

WWE Royal Rumble Worst Surprise Entrants

The Entire Announce Team (2012)

Wasting one surprise could be a forgivable error on WWE’s part, but using three spots to build toward a feud that no one cared about anyway is blasphemy. In 2012, Michael Cole was in the midst of his heel run no one asked for, and no one wanted to see. His ranting was unbearable and took over too much of WWE programming. The hijacking of shows was too much, and it nearly ruined the Royal Rumble.

Hearing the announce team bantering back and forth took away from the action in the ring. That was bad enough, but it was made worse. Booker T, Jerry Lawler, and Michael Cole each got a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match. It brought their drama into a contest in which they had no business being. The fans didn’t care, the office shouldn’t have cared, and it brought any momentum the Royal Rumble had to a screeching halt.
