Not so fast, Fatal Influence…
Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey made a statement by leading herself and Wren Sinclair to a win. NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne sat in on commentary and watched her opponent at New Year’s Evil go to work against the rest of Fatal Influence. Sinclair took out Lainey Reid and Jayne with a massive crossbody splash to the outside, allowing Grey to submit Henley with an incredible flying armbar.
Magic Slater
After an impressive showing at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater battled Joe Hendry, Myles Borne, and Dion Lennox in a Fatal 4-Way Match for an NXT Championship opportunity on January 6 at NXT New Year’s Evil. The action was fast and furious as Slater soared through the air with a top rope crossbody to Lennox.
Despite tweaking his knee, Slater would push through the pain to deliver his signature Swanton 450 to Borne. Slater scored the pinfall, solidifying his spot as the No. 1 Contender to NXT Champion Oba Femi at New Year’s Evil. NXT Champion Oba Femi came and showed the belt to Slater.

Meanwhile, backstage…
- Je’Von Evans was waiting for Ricky Saints in the parking lot. Ava asked him to calm down.
- Tatum Paxley has started the mind games with The Culling.
- WWE Speed Champion Jasper Troy is ready for a new #1 contender.
- Ava made a decision: Ethan Page will defend his North American Championship on December 30, and Chelsea Green will defend the Women’s US Championship against Sol Ruca next week.
- Izzi Dame, Lola Vice, and Kelani Jordan argued in the locker room.
- Shiloh Hill and Skylar Raye aren’t going to let Stacks and Arianna Grace walk all over them. They will face next week.
Nygma Says
This episode was huge. Once again, I enjoyed it from start to finish. Thea Hail and Leon Slater were magic. Hail’s tears of joy were beautiful; she could even make me start to believe. And Leon Slater made history again, at only 21. Absolute Ricky Saints makes me think of bad vodka that’s hard to swallow and burns in the mouth. I’ll see you next week, maybe earlier due to taped episodes, as I keep on exploring the NXT world through the NXTNA “cold war.” Till then, may the Nygma be with you.
