Who Has John Cena Wrestled The Most On WWE PLE/PPV?

3. Edge

Edge is also often regarded as one of John Cena’s greatest rivals, so it’s no surprise to see The Rated-R Superstar on this list. Their feud began at New Year’s Revolution 2006, where Edge shockingly cashed in Money in the Bank and ended Cena’s first WWE Championship reign.

In total, they fought each other for the WWE Championship five times throughout that year. That included the aforementioned cash-in, Cena’s rematch at the Royal Rumble, a chaotic Triple Threat Match at Backlash, and matches in their respective hometowns at SummerSlam and Unforgiven.

Their feud eventually slowed down, particularly when Edge stole the World Heavyweight Championship from The Undertaker (via a second Money in the Bank cash-in!) and moved to SmackDown. But their rivalry was far from over, and their paths crossed again a few years later.

After Edge embarrassingly lost his WWE Championship at No Way Out 2009, he took out Kofi Kingston and entered Raw’s Elimination Chamber Match for Cena’s World Heavyweight Championship later that night. Edge stealing yet another title from Cena reignited their feud, which culminated with a classic Last Man Standing Match at Backlash ’09.

The numbers speak for themselves here – Edge had the upper hand in their feud at least when it comes to pay-per-view matches, with five wins (including Edge’s 2010 Royal Rumble win) against Cena’s four.

To his credit, all of John Cena’s wins were clean – well, maybe not Backlash 2007! – but overall, Edge’s wins had a bigger impact on their storyline. The Money in the Bank cash-in at New Year’s Revolution 2006, in particular, will never be forgotten, especially since it was the first ever MITB cash-in.
