John Cena Announces His Choices For Iron Survivor Challenges Participants at NXT Gold Rush

As NXT General Manager Ava announced last week, she asked John Cena to select the participants for the Iron Survivor Challenges at NXT Deadline 2025. He selected five men and five women to compete in the brutal match, where every second counts.

The Iron Survivor Challenge is a pure NXT Deadline match. The Challenge is a five-person match in which a wrestler attempts to score the most falls before the 25-minute time limit (the “deadline”) expires to earn a future match for the NXT Championship and NXT Women’s Championship, respectively.

The Chosen Men

John Cena first thought about the future of the business. He obviously chose The Young OG Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater. The TNA’s “Youngest in Charge” will once again make history competing in that match. Cena then announced that he had chosen the man who is the definition of “Self-Made Superstar,” Joe Hendry. Yes, John Cena believes in Joe Hendry.

His next pick comes from the DarkState faction, with Dion Lennox. Cena said that he earned an opportunity to show what he’s got. The last spot depended on the result of the match between Trick Williams and Myles Borne. As Borne defeated Williams in the main event, he will participate in the Iron Survivor Challenge.

The Chosen Women

Later on Tuesday night, John Cena had to pick five women out of an overflowing division. He chose talents who are “tremendous representations of that.” His first choice is Sol Ruca, for her athleticism and innovation. Lola Vice has always asked, “When am I going to get a shot?” John Cena gave her one last night.

Kelani Jordan dubbed herself the Standout and the Standard; she will have to prove it at NXT Deadline. Cena admires strength because it takes time, discipline, and the ability to overcome failure.

So, his choice of The Juggernaut Jordynne Grace was not a surprise. Cena’s last pick is an amateur standup. According to Cena, WWE EVOLVE Champion Kendal Grey has all the tools to accomplish everything she puts her mind to in WWE.

NXT Deadline will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, live at 7 PM EST.
