Becky Lynch & 4 Others Who Lost The WWE Intercontinental Championship In Madison Square Garden

Kane

  • Beginning Of His Reign: May 20, 2001 (Judgment Day)
  • End Of His Reign: June 26, 2001 (SmackDown Taping)
  • Days Held: 37
  • Number Of Televised Title Defenses: 7

You have to go all the way back to June 2001 to find the last time the men’s Intercontinental Championship changed hands in MSG – back when the company was still known as the World Wrestling Federation! It happened when Kane lost the IC Championship to Albert, of all people, in a No DQ Match on an episode of SmackDown.

The Big Red Machine had been the champion for about a month, having bested Triple H in a unique Chain Match at Judgment Day. Albert’s title reign ended up being even shorter than Kane’s, with the future A-Train/Tensai dropping the gold to The Alliance’s Lance Storm on the July 23 edition of Raw Is War.
