#2. Won the Title That Eluded Him For Most of His Career
The United States Championship is credited as John Cena’s launchpad, as Cena won the title multiple times during the first few years of his WWE career. Following WrestleMania 21, The Champ became a mainstay in the main event scene, which led him to multiple World Championships.
Along the way, he has also had a few odd Tag Team Championship reigns, which were usually part of his major singles feuds. However, the prestigious Intercontinental Championship, the workhorse title, eluded him throughout his career.
Fortunately, that changed during his final appearance in Boston on November 11. Dominik Mysterio, the previous IC Champion, interrupted Cena’s emotional address to his hometown, which eventually led to Triple H booking a one-on-one encounter between Dom and Cena for the IC Title.
After a well-paced and memorable bout, Cena pinned Dom to win his first IC Championship, sending Boston into a frenzy. The Champ was congratulated on his win backstage, too.
